Penile or Urethral Injury During Sexual Intercourse or Masturbation.

Abstract
The erect penis may fracture as a result of direct blunt trauma that bends the organ abnormally. Fracture occurs most commonly during coitus, with frequencies ranging from 33 to 58 percent of all penile injuries. Vascular injury alone or urethral
without penile fracture is very rare. The loss of function in the penis may be not life-threatening, but the quality of patient's life deteriorates if the injury is not properly managed. We therefore reviewed 10 patients who sustained a penile of
urethral injury during sexual intercourse or masturbation from the viewpoint of determining an casy diagnostic method and proper treatment. Physical examination, cavernosography and urethrography were performed according to the patient's
condition.
We
used conservative treatment for two patients with rupture of the superficial vein and three patients with urethral tearing and operated on three patients with penile fracture and the patients with rupture of the deep dorsal or dorsal
communicating
vein.
No patient complained of erectile dysfunction after treatment.
We think that the penile injury with a normal cavernosogram and either no bleeding signs or only mild ecchymosis on the penis, scrotum and lower abdomen can be considered for conservative management.
